Math Bloopers

Madisen and I were doing Math together and counting 2 piles of money. Her counting one and me counting the other and seeing who has more. She started counting...there was two five dollar bills and one dollar and a handful of change. She starts with the dollars and counts, 5...10....6....? huh? 6?

She was laughing so hard and got me laughing too. It was one of those moments I guess where you had to be there. :) But she wanted me to write it down so she would remember it. Funny girl! :)

Proud Parents

Madisen's teacher wrote me an email today telling me that Madisen is struggling a bit in math but that she is so proud of Madisen because she never gives up. She keeps fighting hard to do it even though it can be hard. I know math doesn't always come easy for her, but Ryan and I are so proud of her for not giving up when things get hard. Way to go Madi!

Squash Face

Avery came home from school and told me that her face got smashed on the bus.

I asked her how?

She said, "There was this big kid that sat on the seat with me and then another kid sat down by him so he scooted over and his backpack was so BIG it squashed my face all the way home.  Then she proceeded to show me how her face looked squishing her cheeks together with her eyes wide open.

I couldn't help but bust up laughing! She is such a goof.

IPAD Exercises

I asked Ryan if he got up early to exercise this morning, but he didn't respond right away and gave me this guilty look. Madisen quickly piped up and said, "He exercised his finger."

"What?" I asked.

Madison said, "Yeah, he was playing his game on the Ipad." haha.

Toilet Singing

I was in the kitchen getting breakfast for Avery, and Madisen. Emily came in from the bathroom moments later and said, "I heard daddy singing." I said, "Oh, did you hear him singing in the shower?"

"No." Emily said. "He was singing in his toilet!"

Exercise...in all it's varieties.

Dad asked Avery if she was chasing boys at school for exercise. Avery calmly replied, "I just follow them. It's almost the same as chasing them though. That is my exercise."

Emily comes into the room and tells us, "Madisen said something mean to me. And Jesus Christ would not want her to say mean things and she did."

To cut or not to cut

After family home evening Dad asks Emily if she is ready to cut her hair? And donate it to Locks of Love. Emily says, "Yes, I want to cut it short."

Avery says, "Not me! I want to grow my hair out to my knees or my feet like Rapunzel."

Emily then says, "I want to grow my had like Rapunzel too!"

"But I thought you wanted to cut it Emily?" Avery asked.

Emily says, "Well I just changed my mind! OK!"

Articles of Faith

We were having Family Home Evening and asked Madisen, "What is the 3rd article of faith...she has been learning them for her Child Of God award.

She said, "I can't remember that one but I know number 4 and 5." Right away Avery recites number 3 verbatim and we just all stare at her like what the heck?!

"How did you know that Avery?"

She said, "I just knew it."

Funny girl.

Avery: "I tooted because it's exercise."

Ohhhh Avery. What are we going to do with you?

I went on a field trip with Madisen to the Planetarium. It was about a mile walk from their school. So they were told to wear good shoes because we were going to walk there. Well, Madisen and a few others in her class forgot to wear tennis shoes. And I would have brought her some if I had known she wore flip-flops but didn't. So I ended up giving her a piggy back ride for awhile. But after a few minutes Madisen asked me if she would carry her friends now as their feet must hurt too. So I took turns carrying other girls in her class on my back. Let's just say it was a great workout! I just love how Madisen always thinks of others and their feelings before her own at times. She is such good example to me.

The attack of the killer chair

I was in the other room when I heard something fall to the ground making a loud noise. I cringed and stood absolutely still waiting for the loud cries of one of my girls that I knew would soon follow. However. instead of hearing crying, I heard Avery talking quietly yet, in a teasing forceful manner. So I got as close as I could without her seeing me and this is what I heard:

"No, you totally started it first! Not me. I am going to get you and punch you."

After hearing this I walked around the corner and into the kitchen where I found Avery lying flat on her back under neath a folding chair that had clasped on top of her. She, then noticing me, paused her teasing tirade with the chair and said, "Oh. Hi mom. This chair fell on me and I was giving it a piece of my mind." She then proceeded to punch the back of the chair in a joking manner while again saying, "No, you started it!"

I busted up laughing so hard. Which then she did too.

What a funny kid. I just love her quirkiness! If only I could remember to go through life a little more like this. When things get me "down" turn it into something fun, laugh it off and stand up for myself more often. And also to remember not to sweat the small things!

Darth Vader wanna be

Emily tells me randomly one day, "Mom. I want to be Darth Vader when I grow up!"

Umm...ok. What do you even say to that?!

Monday, March 10, 2014

We were eating lunch and Avery shouts out, "Wait guys. We forgot to go to the wedding!"

"Uh, who's wedding? What are you talking about?" I asked.

"Mine!" she says. " I am marrying this chip!"

( What?? She's had wedding bells on her mind since the day she was born).

We were reading scriptures last night and Avery tooted and Ryan was like, "Oh man, Avery that stinks!" And she goes,  "mmmm, that smells kind of good."

What a nut!

What Chocolate Does to Girls...

Dad picked up the girls from TaVaci and Avery had gotten some chocolate from Sis. Cook and said aloud in the car, I have a date with destiny! As she is staring down her chocolate crossed eyes while drooling.
Emily: Mommy, do you have a baby?

Me: You are my baby.

Emily: No, in your tummy?

Me: Do I look like I have a baby in my tummy?

Emily: Yes.

Me:    :/  (kids can be so brutally honest sometimes)

A Child's Prayer

Emily's prayer today..."Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for this day. We believe in God the eternal Father, and in His son, Jesus Christ and in the Holy Ghost. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen." hahaha! Glad she has the first article of faith down

Annoyed.

Emily had just gotten home from school and Cooper (our dog) was so excited to see her when she came in the door. He jumps and runs around and jumps some more. Licking her all the while. Well he brought his rope toy over to her and wanted her to play with him. She played with him for a few minutes and then asked for a snack. I told her to come sit down in the kitchen. Well Cooper was not done playing. He kept jumping up and putting the rope on her and she would throw it off. And this continued for a few minutes. Emily was laughing but at the same time I could see her loosing patience with Cooper as she just wanted to finish eating her snack. She turns to me with a little grin and says, "Cooper is sooooooooo annoying!" It made me laugh as I have never heard her use that word before.

a wee little song

Last night, Christy and I were in our room reading and the girls were out in the kitchen playing with Play-Doh.  Things were relatively quiet when Emily started singing to herself.  It started with a hum and then she was singing about play-doh.  In the middle of her verse, she suddenly sang in the same little voice "I really have to go pee."
